On 22 October 2019 the Home Secretary announced an independent public inquiry into the Manchester Arena attack on 22 May 2017.

Sir John Saunders, having acted as the Coroner responsible for conducting the Manchester Arena Inquests, was also appointed to chair the Inquiry on 22 October 2019.

The Inquiry investigated the deaths of the victims of the 2017 Manchester Arena attack and had the same scope as the Inquests.

The oral evidence hearings took place between 7th September 2020 and 7th June 2023; during which, the Inquiry published its Report in three volumes.

The Manchester Arena Inquiry has now concluded.
